| DO YOU NEED PRAYER?God cares about you, and wants to answer your prayers. You are not being a nuisance when you pray to Him – He loves to hear from you. You don't need fancy words or lots of "thees" and "thous". Just talk to God as you would to your best friend, and tell Him what you need. There are some things you need to know, though. Firstly, God will never break His own laws in order to answer someone's prayer – so if God says in the Bible that something is wrong, don't bother praying for it, because God will always say "no" to that prayer. For instance, God's word says very clearly that adultery is wrong and that nobody should lust after another person's spouse. So don't pray for your best friend's spouse (or your worst enemy's) to divorce and marry you, because God in His righteousness will not answer such a prayer. Secondly, don't try to use prayer to force other people to do what they don't want to do. God has given every person free will, and He will not violate that free will (though He can at times be very persuasive!). To try to override someone's will is witchcraft, and God will not accept it. Thirdly, don't try to make bargains with God. Many people say, "God, if you give me this I'll do this." God loves you and wants to help you. He doesn't need your bargains, and He knows perfectly well that, being human, when you've got what you want you will probably forget the bargain anyway. Come to God unconditionally, receive unconditionally, and after you have received thank Him with your words and your life. Finally, and most importantly, come to the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6). Through His death He has provided the only access to the Father's presence. You don't need any other person, living or dead, to pray for you. Jesus has made it possible for you to speak personally to God. However, sometimes it is nice to know that there is someone else standing with us in prayer. If you have a need and would like us to join our prayer to yours, contact us. |
There is one God, and one mediator between God and people, the man Christ Jesus
(1 Timothy 2:5)
in Whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form
(Colossians 2:9)
and Whom God the Father has exalted to the highest place, giving Him the Name
which is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in
heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:9-11)
