GLORY TO THE KING CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY BOOLARRA
OUR PARTICULAR PRACTICES
To help you feel comfortable in your visit with us, the following is a brief outline of how we do things at Glory to the King Christian Community.
Worship
During worship we might stand, raise our hands, clap, kneel or even on occasion dance. If you are not comfortable doing these things, please do not feel that you are obliged to join in. We want to give the Holy Spirit free reign to lead us, but you are welcome to worship in the way that is comfortable to you.
If you have visited other Pentecostal churches, particularly larger ones, you may be surprised to find that our worship is much quieter. We believe that worship should focus on the Lord, not on the musicians, and certainly not that it should be turned into some kind of Christian rock concert.
Communion
We do not believe that the Communion elements literally become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, but we do believe that there is a real spiritual presence in the Communion, and that it should be honoured. If you have children who are too young to understand what Communion is about, we ask that you please do not share the elements with them.
Spiritual Gifts
We believe that the manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit as outlined in 1 Corinthians 12 are for today, and we desire to see the Spirit move in our meetings. However, we are sure that you understand that not everyone who claims to be moving in spiritual gifts is actually moving in the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if you are a visitor to our service, we ask that you not move in spiritual gifts during the service. If you have a prophecy or word of knowledge that you feel is relevant to the meeting, please share it with one of the leaders. If you become part of this family, once we get to know you, you may be given freedom to move in the gifts.
Money
If you are a visitor to our service, you have no obligation to give to this ministry. If you wish, you are free to simply let the offering bag pass you by – you will not be judged or looked down upon for doing so. On the other hand, if you do want to give something, your gift will be welcomed and we are convinced that God will bless you as a result. If you become part of this family, we ask that you support us financially. We believe in tithing, but as a principle, not as a law. Basically, although we would ask that you give something, how much you give is between you and God.
