Financial Policy

GTKMI Financial Policy

Because of the many requests we receive for financial assistance, we have found it necessary to clearly spell out our financial policy.

We believe that this ministry has a great deal to offer, in teaching, prayer, covering, relationship. What we do not have to offer (at least, not in any great amount) is money. We understand that money is important, and that without it the work of the Kingdom can be hampered. However, we cannot give what we do not have.

Remember the story of the lame man healed by Peter and John in the Book of Acts? Peter said to him, “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give you …” What if the man had replied, “No, I’m not interested in whatever else you have to offer. All I want – what I need – is money!” He would have missed his miracle, and still not been any the richer.

That said, please read the information on this page very carefully if you are thinking of asking us for financial support.

Donations to Non-related Persons or Groups

a) At this point in time we have only a very small support base here in Australia, and therefore only a small amount of finance available, and only a limited workforce to enable us to raise more. Good stewardship demands that we give first to those whom the Lord has placed in relationship with us.
b) Our registration through various Australian government departments requires that we be able to provide full accountability for any money we give, something that we can only do when we know the people to whom it is being given, or through whom it is being distributed.
c) Because of the international security situation at the present time, we cannot give to people we don’t know.

Because of all these factors we CANNOT GIVE financial or material support to anyone who does not relate to us either as a member or as an affiliated minister. Please do not bother asking, we will nor respond to your e-mail, as responding to these requests takes time that can be better used elsewhere.

Donations at Times of Natural Disasters or Human Tragedy

When there is a disaster where many people are being affected, if we have an affiliated ministry that we know well in the area, we may try to raise financial assistance to be distributed through them.

Occasionally in such situations we will make a donation to some other well-known and trusted Christian organization, for distribution through them.

In these, as in all, situations, we cannot distribute aid through any individual who is not known to us.

Donations To or Through Affiliated Ministers

Firstly, let us emphasize that we do understand that your ministry has many financial needs, and that some of them may be very pressing. We also understand that to some people in developing nations, all westerners seem rich. However, as stated above, we have limited financial resources.

You also need to understand that, if you are affiliated with us, you are only one of many affiliated ministries, all of whom have great needs. There is no way that we could help everyone at once. Your affiliation is no guarantee that you will ever receive money from us. You will have been asked to indicate that you understand and accept this at the time of your affiliation application.

Every so often we will get a request to “Just send a dollar or two.” This is not possible. The cost of international money transfers from Australia is high, and we can justify that cost only if we are sending a reasonable amount. To do otherwise would not be good stewardship.

We will do what we can. Usually the Board prayerfully chooses one or two projects for which to raise support for a few months, then moves on to another project. Please do not be disappointed or offended if your project is not one of those chosen at any particular time.

When we do raise funds for any particular (one-off) project, 100% of what we raise goes to that project. We do not take out administration expenses. We even cover the cost of the international transfers.

However, if we are collecting funds on a regular basis (such as ongoing sponsorships), whilst we still cover the administration costs, the cost of international transfers has to come out of the amount raised.

If you are an international pastor, please do not think that you can affiliate with us simply as a means of gaining financial support. Firstly, affiliation is no guarantee that you will ever receive money from us. Secondly, if we believe that an affiliation application is being made purely for financial reasons, we will reject it.

Even if you are accepted for affiliation, and it later becomes obvious that your only intent was to get financial support, your affiliation will be cancelled.

This might sound harsh, but it is very important to us that affiliation be for the right motives.
